Fox Hollow Junior Golf Championship Recap

The RecruitLook Junior Golf Tour Event Recap :
Fox Hollow Junior Golf Championship

Our second event of the Inaugural season for Denver’s RLJGT started with perfect conditions at one of the most picturesque courses in Colorado. Every hole had incredible views of the Rocky Mountains and the competition was very close the first day. The second day was interrupted with severe thunderstorms and rain delays which turned the event into a 9-hole round Sunday.

For the Boys 15-18 division, we had our first sudden-death playoff after our 9-hole event Sunday. Jeffrey Nelson had a 2-stroke lead going into Sunday and Mario Dino managed to catch the leader after 27-holes. Both players went back on the course and Jeffrey overcame the strong push by Mario for the Victory. Jeffrey Nelson fired scores of 77-42/119 and Mario Dino scored 79-40/119. In third place was Bo Wardynski with scores of 79-41/120 for the most competitive division of the tournament.

The boys 13-14 division was very competitive too. Gregory Lewis 79-42/121 narrowly edged out Andrew Merz 80-42/122. Hole 17 proved to be the deciding hole in this match. The second to last hole was birdie both days by Lewis, ultimately helping him secure the 1-shot victory. Eshaan Palanati came in third with an 82-44/126.

For the Boys 11-12 division, we had a newcomer, Matai Naqica, runaway as the leader of the group by firing a “Tournament Best” round of 73 on Saturday. Sunday was a survival test with the rain and extreme conditions but finished with scores of 73-43/116. In second place was another first-time competitor — Roland Thornton scored 97- 47/144. Finishing in third place was Charlie Tucker scoring 102-46/148.

We had a nice turn-out for our Girls 15-18 group with several girls from the same high school golf team participating in the event. Hannah Basler held onto the Victory with scores of 91-46/137 total 1st Place. Trying to close the gap was Kira Petersen but ran out of holes due to the weather, and secured 2nd Place scoring 96-45/141. In 3rd Place, Elena Hernandez with scores of 102-48/150. There was also one girl in the 11-12 age division and Recruitlook was happy to have Avery Basler play her first-ever tournament.

For our final division we had our Boys 9-10 which only played 9-holes due to the adverse conditions which wasn’t a factor for Andre Dumonteil who fired an unbelievable round of 1-under par 35 to win 1st Place. The rest of the division was within a couple shots of each other and Sean Cary won 2nd Place shooting a 42. Brayden DeStefano finished a shot back with a 43 for 3rd Place.
