RecruitLook Junior Golf Tour College Prep Championship

The RecruitLook Junior Golf Tour’s only three-day event for 2018 was held at TPC Las Vegas and Cascata on June 18-20, 2018 and it was a huge success. A total of 54 golfers from five different states and 2 countries came to compete for a chance to be crowned a 54-hole champion! Rounds one and two were at TPC Las Vegas, and the final round was held at Cascata. In addition to having an amazing field of players, we were joined by players from California, Arizona, Texas, Indonesia, and the entire high school team from Kentucky. All in all, a great field of players.

Finishing first in the Boys 15-18 in a 32-player field was Miles Parroco, from Kentucky. His first two rounds at TPC-LV were 72-72, two over par after 36 holes. Heading to the very challenging Cascata Golf Club, a course he has never played before, Miles put together one of the best rounds of the day – shooting a 69 — to finish one under par for the 54 holes at 213. Gabriel Hara, from Indonesia, struggled on day two at TPC, but still posted 72-75 after 36 holes, tied best round of the day with a 69 at Cascata to place second with a 216 total. Third place went to Michael Salerno, who turned the front nine at Cascata with an impressive 32, four under par. Michael finished the day at two under par 70, even with a double bogey at the 16th hole. Michael finished with 75-75-70/220. Jackson Parrish, who was tied for the lead after 36 holes, struggled a little at Cascata, but scored a 74-70-77/221 to finish fourth.

Boys 13-14 winner Cormack Goecke won for the first time on the RLJGT. Cormack started slowly with an opening round of 83 at TPC — six shots behind after day one. Cormack flipped a switch, playing some of his best golf ever the next two days, shooting a 72 on day two at TPC, and 75 at Cascata for a three-day total of 230. We were very impressed with the perseverance Cormack showed to win this event. Looking forward to seeing how he follows up this win in his next event. Second place went to Andrew Hawk with rounds of 77-79-80/236. Diachi Molde took third with 79-80-82/241. Even though he did not make the cut, the best improvement from day one to day two goes to Gannon Lowry, 101-77, a 24-shot improvement. Way to go Gannon!

Bradley Bourn finished first in the boys 11-12 with rounds of 79-73-74/226. Bourn’s steady 3-days and four birdies on the final round sealed the victory for him. Vincent Kyle Forbes had it at even par through fifteen holes, but 16-18 proved difficult on day 3. We fully expect him to work on a few things and be in the hunt again at the next tournament. Vincent finished with 74-77-78/229. Distant third went to Kyle Guloy with a three-round total of 250.

The Boys 9-10 played 18 holes only at TPC Las Vegas. Eli Marshall, points leader padded his lead with an 84 to finish six ahead of Lee Howland (90).

We needed an extra hole to crown a Girls 15-18 winner. Rebecca Oertel and Hailey Stevenson each scored 230 after 54 holes. Rebecca prevailed on the first hole of the playoff to take first place with rounds of 77-79-74/230. Hailey shot 77-77-76 for her three rounds. Natalie Cheong had the girl’s low round of the day at Cascata with a 73 to finish with 81-78-73/232.

Brynn Kort won the girls 11-12 with an amazing performance. Brynn normally plays the 9-10 age group, but she wanted a shot to play at Cascata. I informed her mom the only way for her to play at Cascata was for Brynn to play in the girls 11-12, and she would have to finish in the top 40 to be eligible. Brynn played amazing golf the first two day and scored 73-77/150 at TPC to easily make the cut and play Cascata. Playing from the Red tees on day 3, Brynn scored 74 at Cascata. Amazing job, Bryn!
