The Summerlin Shootout was held at Siena Golf Club on June 8-9, 2016. The course conditions were outstanding, the fairways have never looked better. The temperature was extremely hot both days.
Austen Ancell took top honors in the boys 15-18 with a score of 70-81. Austen made the tun on the second day with a 38 and his closest competitor, Ethan Bozner managed to pick up one with a 37. Austen started his back nine by going 7 over a four hole stretch, but he settled down and played the last five holes at even par. Even with his mid round hiccup, Austen still won the event by seven shots over Jalen Hodges and Ethan Bozner (both 158).
The boys 13-14 had very little drama as Kameron Kelsey ran away from the field to post a ten shot victory. Kameron posted rounds of 82-81. Tyler Pham came in second with a total of 173, and Jacob Johnson and JJ Kulesza tied for third with a 175. Dylan Girouard won the boys 11-12 for his first victory on the tour, scoring a career best 88 on the first day followed by a 96 on day two. The wind definitely contributed to higher scores on day two for all the players.
Caroline Valle coasted to a 15 shot victory in the Girls 15-18 group with steady play both days, 80-84/164. What’s even more impressive is Caroline plays up an age group. Jade Magana was the runnerup in the Girls 15-18 age division with a 92-87/179.
In the closest of all the flights, the girls 9-10 was not decided until the last few holes. Yana Wilson won with consistency, shooting 49 both days to win by two over Brooklyn Millard and Dakota Tallent, who each scored 100 for the two days. Fourth place went to our newest member Jayda Sidney, who was leading after day one and finished with a 101 total. The girls 9-10 age group was very competitive and close, as you can see.
